Summer Camp 2026 is just around the corner and will be here in just 147 short days. In preparation for this and to continue our registration process and program release, our 2026 Leader’s Guide can be found under the summer camp tab in the menu above, and HERE.
As we were finalizing the Guide, the recent updates to Merit Badges has also prompted an update to requirements for over half of our badges offered. The addition of the research jobs in the field for about half of the merit badges has added some difficulty with ensuring completion is possible at summer camp. Our limited availability with sufficient technology and a desire to reduce the electronic device usage during camp has challenged us to come up with an alternative way to complete this requirement for those badges. Our goal is to make that requirement a pre/post requisite and require submission through a Google Classroom portal in order to check that requirement complete. This will ensure that Scouts and Leaders are not stuck looking for a qualified counselor to complete the badges at the conclusion of camp.
Registrants in the badges will be enrolled in a Google Classroom on May 1st to allow ample time to complete the requirement and turn it in prior to the start of camp. Those that register after May 1 will be added during their week of summer camp and will have until August 1st to submit their research in order to receive a completion for that badge. In addition, there are a few badges that will require follow-up in several weeks at the conclusion of the initial instruction, the goal is to utilize Google Classroom as well to have Scouts submit those required reports for review and completion once camp is concluded.
