Counselors In Training

This two-week program is designed for 14 year old Scouts to gain a better understanding of what it means to be a Camp Counselor at Camp Barstow. Participants will spend the first week of this program in training modules on safety, teaching techniques, learning curriculum and standards, and completing a small service project. In the second week, participants will have the opportunity to spend time in every program area in Camp and decide what area they may want to work in during future summers at Camp.
Offered: Any 2 of our 4 weeks of traditional Scout Camp Programming
Recommended For: Must be 14 years old
Prerequisites/Partials: Positive Attitude, willingness to learn, and independent motivation to get work done on ones own

Check-in/out
Arrive on Sunday anytime from 1:00-5:00pm on your first week. Make sure you bring all of your gear, Med-Forms, medications, and come prepared for a swim check. Follow instructions from the Camp Staff once at Camp.
At the conclusion of your first week, you must depart camp (unless prior arrangements have been made with the Camp Director) on Saturday morning no later than 9:30am.
Your second week will follow the same steps listed above.

Expectations
We at Camp Barstow want this experience to be a peek behind the scenes of how camp works. In order to be successful in this program, our expectations are that you come in with an open mind, willingness to learn, and full participation in every aspect.
Depending on need, some CIT’s may be asked to return for a third or fourth week, at the discretion of the Camp Director and Program Director.
